This is Ercol
“This is Ercol” looks at creating a series of bespoke furniture and product through the relationship and experimentation of materials and form, using original Ercol components which have been rejected or have become obsolete. The project makes good use of these redundant parts, offering a fresh and alternative outlet for creative ideas.
Big Friendly is a floor lamp made up from existing Ercol component pieces, each analysed for their strengths, weaknesses and possible relationship with other components. I see the selection process for each of the
components much like dry-stone walling; finding a place of best fit for each.
